There's a version of "business success" that gets all the airtime. The overnight sensation. The viral launch. The founder who went from zero to a million in twelve months. That story definitely exists. But it's not the only one. And honestly? It's not the one I see most often.
The story I see, the one I get a front-row seat to every single day looks more like this:
It looks like staying up after the kids are in bed to tweak one more thing on the website. It looks like investing in a brand when the bank account says "maybe wait." It looks like showing up on day 347 with the same energy you brought on day one, even when nobody's clapping.
It looks like courage dressed in activewear, sitting at a kitchen table, sending one more email.
The founders I get to work alongside are doing this every day. And I think they deserve a standing ovation.
I see it every day...
SALT set out to book 20 tours in their first season, now they're heading into an almost fully booked one. Jayde at Flex & Flow bravely took over an existing studio and is quietly, loyally building the kind of movement community Invercargill deserves. Charlie and Zara are turning a non-alcoholic subscription box into a cultural statement proving that sober is something you raise a glass to. And Amy at Form Pilates, years into her journey, still brings her whole heart to every single class.
People like this are my heroes.
Not because they've gone viral. Not because they've hit some magic revenue number. Because they keep showing up consistently, bravely, with love for what they do and the people they serve.
So here's what I want you to know:
I'm a brand strategist. I help founders clarify their message, sharpen their positioning, and build brands that reflect the depth of what they're actually doing. And I'm proud of that work. But I need to be honest about something...
No brand strategy, no beautifully designed website, no perfectly crafted message will build your business for you. Those things can open doors. They can help the right people find you. They can make sure the world sees what you've built the way it deserves to be seen.
But the thing that actually gets you over the line? It's you.
It's the daily mahi. The early mornings and the late nights. The moments where you choose to keep going when it would be easier to stop. The love you pour into your craft, your clients, your community... day after day after day. That's not something I can give you. That's not something any strategist, designer, or consultant can bottle up and hand over. That comes from you. It always has.
The founders I work with don't succeed because of me. They succeed because they do the work. Because they care deeply. Because they back themselves even when it's terrifying. I just get the privilege of standing beside them while they do it.
So if you're in the thick of it right now...
If you're building something from nothing. If you're wondering whether it's working. If you're holding it all together with caffeine and conviction... this is your toast!
Cheers to you, the everyday hero.
You're braver than you think. You're building more than you realise. And the people whose lives you're touching? They see it even when you can't.
Stay brilliant,
Court
